Cycling in Holsteiner Quellenland
North of Bad Segeberg, a diverse landscape with forests, lakes, moors and meadows was created during the Ice Age. The Holsteiner Quellenland is therefore ideal for visitors who love cycling. Reinhard Bronsart from Trappenkamp has himself devised seven interesting circular routes.
The name Holsteiner Quellenland was chosen for the cycle routes because Schleswig-Holstein's largest watershed is located here in the triangle between Neumünster, Plön and Bad Segeberg. Water from the streams emerging here flows in the west and south via the Stör to the North Sea, and in the rest of the area to the Baltic Sea, namely in the north via the Schwentine to the Kiel Fjord and in the east via the Trave to Lübeck Bay.
Reinhard Bronsart is a regular cyclist here. Over the years, Reinhard has become a connoisseur of the cycling routes around his home community.
Experiences along the way
Reinhard Bronsart is impressed by the variety of sights and natural features to experience along the route. He cites some examples:
- The memorial stone "Auf dem Vier" (at the four) commemorates the place north of Bornhöved where the Holstein Estates Assemblies were held in the 14th and 15th centuries.
- Known as the site of the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, Stockseehof has cherry and raspberry orchards and a popular café.
- The Trappenkamp Adventure Forest is popular outside the region of Schleswig-Holstein with game enclosures, a large play area, the Team Tower and the falconry.
- The Kibitzholmer Moor near Rickling and the Tensfelder Moor show the original moor landscape, which is of great importance not only owing to its rare flora and fauna, but also in terms of climate protection.
Reinhard Bronsart is looking forward from numerous cycling enthusiasts visiting the area.
"Cycling through the forest and along meadows and lakes is a source of great relaxation for me. Once a week, we meet in a group in Trappenkamp to explore our beautiful surroundings together by bike." Reinhard Bronsart from Trappenkamp has himself devised seven interesting circular routes.
